Amy & Adam tied the knot in our charming outdoor Summer House last year. The weather was simply perfect, allowing them and their guests to enjoy our beautifully landscaped gardens all day long, and even catch a stunning sunset! Amy & Adam fell in love with South Farm from their very first viewing and, despite plans to visit other venues, they booked their date right away — our gorgeous seasonal gardens captured their hearts. Read all the enchanting details of their dreamy summer wedding in our latest blog…
Date of your wedding: Sunday 28th July 2024
Time of your ceremony: 2:00pm
Location of your ceremony: The Summer House
We’d love to hear your first date stories or tell us how and when you first met!
We first met nine years ago back in 2015 on a dating platform (this did come up in the speeches). My mum (Mother of the Bride) was in fact the person who swiped right for Adam, which she loves to tell people to this day. Adam is in the RAF so has to go away a lot, sometimes for months at a time, but we’ve always known we would be together.
After getting married at South Farm last year, we are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first baby this April! So on our year anniversary we will have a three month old, absolutely crazy 😊
Which parts of the venue did you use on your big day?
We used the beautiful Summer House to get married, as soon as we visited the venue back in 2023 we fell in love with the gardens. At the time it was the middle of February, but even in the winter everything was just perfect. There were so many photo opportunities and it just shows how special each Season is at South Farm! We had our drinks reception in the Old Dairy, the sun was setting and guests had time to walk around the venue. It was such a relaxed atmosphere, everything flowed perfectly between the different areas. Our evening was incredible, the disco was set up in the Tudor Barn and many of our guests spent time out in the courtyard, chatting, enjoying the space!

Which was your favourite spot for wedding photos?
Our favourite spot for photos has got to be the wagons! They were so unique and special, our guests absolutely loved them.

Tell us about any special colour schemes or themes you had for your wedding day?
We went for various colours of pinks, the bridesmaids were in a light pink colour and the groomsmen were in navy blue. Our theme was based around the flowers and summer, so even my dress had floral, pinkish tones.
How did you first hear about South Farm and what made you choose our venue for your wedding day?
We saw the venue on Hitched when we first got engaged. We had a few venues lined up. South Farm was the first one we ever looked at and we immediately cancelled all our other show rounds and booked it there and then. It had everything we had every dreamed of, we knew we could never find somewhere better, we just fell in love with it!

Tell us some detail about your special day?
We had my Stepmum, Stepdad and Father of the Groom complete some readings for us during the ceremony which was really special coming from a non-traditional family. We had a huggggeeee wedding party, I had eight bridesmaids, and my husband has seven groomsmen, they were like our army, but we are so lucky to have such amazing friends and family around us.
We chose to have Pimms for the after ceremony drinks, this went down so well! South Farm’s vintage ice cream bike was also so unique and special.
Our guests still talk to us about the food they had for the sit-down meal. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the chocolate fondant was incredible.
We were so lucky with the weather, it ended up being 24/26 degrees that day, the venue was perfect though as it provided just enough shade for guests to get out of the sun, but also gave plenty of space for people to enjoy the weather too!

How did you feel on the day?
So calm … surprisingly! Our wedding planner, Evie, was just incredible. She came to check on us all, talked us through how it would all run and everything happened so smoothly and without us having to think about anything. It was lovely having the space to ourselves before everyone began to arrive, us girls were able to set up the decorations and just take in the venue.
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding?
Walking down the aisle, seeing each other, with all our friends and family in such a beautiful setting. It was something we had talked about for years. It will be a core memory for us forever.
How did you choose your ceremony and first dance music?
Our first dance music was an acoustic version of ‘Show me Love’. We aren’t into slow songs and have a real passion for dance music after attending various festivals and concerts. It started off as an acoustic and then grew into the original, so that was amazing to get everyone up and dancing with glow sticks. No one knew it was happening so it was great to get everyone involved and really started off the party.
Our ceremony song was ‘You are the Reason’ as the words sum our relationship up perfectly. It has always been our song and the one we have listened to thinking about getting married.

How many bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to be your bridesmaids?
I had eight, they were my army of bridesmaids! 😊 I wrote them all individual letters as they each mean the absolute world to me. Last year was definitely the year of weddings, five of my bridesmaids got married, including my Maid of Honour (my sister), we were all bridesmaids for each other too. It was such a special year for us and to share it with my girls was incredible, we started off the wedding season too so it was even more special. Everyone was so excited for us and our day but also for what was to come!
How did you pick your best men and ushers?
Adam had seven, most of which were the husbands or partners of my bridesmaids as we are lucky enough to share the same group of friends. We have been on many friend holidays, concerts and made some amazing memories with them all. Ad’s Best Man was Ross who he has known since he was 19. They have been inseparable ever since.

How many speeches did you have and do you have any advice for anyone giving a speech?
We had my Dad, Adam (my Husband) and Ross, Ad’s Best Man. Their advice was to break it down, thinking about past, present and future in the case of the Husband and Father of the Bride. A lot was spoken about how we became, our life now and then what we hope for in the future, which luckily enough happened very quickly with our baby boy! 😊
For the Best Man, his advice was to not worry too much about making it funny. A few laughs is great, but think about memories, the Couple and who they are together and what they do for one another.
What did you wear?
I wore a blush dress with slight floral netting, it was corset at the top and flowed out with layers at the bottom. It was from Shades of White – Willow by Water – The Abigail.

Is there anything you would have done differently?
Nothing! Just wish we could do it all over again.
What are your top tips for other couples?
Go and see South Farm in different seasons, you notice so much more! Every time we went to visit we would notice something else we loved about the place, whether that was something in the gardens, the beams in the main barn, even the fab toilets!!! It was also great to see how different couples dressed the venue – Instagram and social media for South Farm was great for this too.
Enjoy the moment. Don’t let the small stuff stress you. You really don’t notice it on the day, it goes so quickly so really take time, just the two of you, to look at where you are getting married, talk about the day together and just enjoy it all!

Where did you go on honeymoon?
We went to The Residence in Turkey for two weeks the day after we got married! 😊
