Casey & Pete first met in 2020 and like many couples during the pandemic, their first date was a simple walk, the perfect way to get to know each other while keeping within the rules. Fast forward to April 2025, and this lovely pair celebrated their wedding surrounded by family and friends at our eco-conscious wedding venue in Hertfordshire.
Their day was relaxed, personal and thoughtfully styled with natural spring-themed elements such as dried flowers and sage-green details which reflected their vision for an eco-friendly wedding. Read more about their beautiful spring-inspired wedding in our latest blog below…
Date of your wedding: 6th April 2025
Time of your ceremony: 3:00pm
Location of your ceremony: Summer House
We’d love to hear how and when you first met?
We met during the Pandemic in Nov 2020, our first date involved going for a walk to make it look like we were working out together without breaking the law of mixing with another household. We met at work. At the time I was a care worker and Pete was the guy that tested the fire safety of the building I worked in.

Which parts of the venue do you use for your big day?
The Summer House – Ceremony
Tudor Barn – Wedding Breakfast and later turned into the dance floor.
Horse Barn – Full English breakfast the following morning after for all of our guests staying over.
The Old Dairy – Tea and coffee after the wedding breakfast while the Tudor Barn was being turned around for the evening reception.

Which was your favourite spot for wedding photos?
That’s a tough one, we didn’t just have one favourite spot. It’s called South Farm.

Tell us about any special colour schemes you had for your wedding day or how you styled your big day?
We went with a very natural eco-concious look using sage green runners, recycled tins & real dried flowers.
How did you first hear about South Farm and what made you choose our venue for your wedding day?
We happened to be on Google checking out local venues to where we live and South Farm was one of them, we reached out that evening about a date enquiry and were met with an email the next morning saying the date was available and that there was an Open House that
day. We went to the Open House and the rest became the history of our beautiful wedding day at South Farm.

Tell us some details about your special day?
This is a rather tough one to explain, but I think our review explained this perfectly…

How did you feel on the day?
Calm and like everything was under control.
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding?
Seeing each other for the first time.
How many Bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to be your Bridesmaids?
I had one Bridesmaid and then my Maid of Honour. I didn’t do anything fancy just asked them each to be the ladies’ part of the day.

How did you pick your Best Men and Ushers?
Well, they were each important members of our family and friends, so it was a no brainer to ask them.
How many speeches did you have, and do you have any advice for anyone giving a speech?
We had three in total. Advice would be don’t worry about tradition, ask who you want to make a speech to do it regardless, and don’t let anyone make you feel obligated to change who you want.

Is there anything you would have done differently?
Nope.
What are your top tips for other couples?
1. Don’t let other people, even if their family make you change your minds on what you want.
2. If someone wants something, make sure to check in with each other and ask if this is something you both would be ok with.
