From the moment Jo & Steffi drove down our tree-lined entrance at South Farm, they just knew they’d found the one — and their wedding day was every bit as joyful, colourful and heartfelt as their beautiful love story!

From an intimate ceremony and drinks reception in the Old Dairy, to an evening of dancing in our light-filled Horse Barn, every moment of the day reflected who they are – a wedding celebration done entirely their way, which we absolutely loved! Their highlights included a private first look in our charming Farmhouse Entrance Hall, creative theatre-ticket table plans complete with personalised Spotify codes, eco-friendly dried-flower bouquets, and even a glitter artist bringing extra sparkle to their wonderful wedding day with us. Set within our countryside wedding venue in Hertfordshire, their day was a fabulous blend of personality, creativity and heartfelt moments.

Date of your wedding: 4th October 2025

Time of your ceremony: 3:15pm

Location of your ceremony: The Old Dairy

We’d love to hear your first date stories or tell us how and when you first met?
We met working on a pantomime in 2018 and became friends straight away. Our first date was to see a show called The Last Five Years at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall in 2020.

Which parts of the venue were used for your big day?
Ceremony and Drinks reception were in the Old Dairy, evening dancing in the Horse Barn!

Which was your favourite spot for wedding photos?
We love our photos by the Romany wagons! So bright and colourful – just like our wedding!

Tell us about any special colour schemes you had for your wedding day and how you styled your big day?
We had our own colours for our own bridal parties, and they each had a different shade within that colour to create a ‘gradient’ effect. For decor we wanted bright and colourful, but not too overstated.

We’d love to know if you included any eco-friendly or sustainable touches in your special day?
We used a lot of dried flowers for our bouquets, and our Bridesmaid bouquets were entirely dried.

How did you first hear about South Farm and what made you choose our venue for your wedding day?
We had seen the venue online, and Steff’s sister had been a Bridesmaid at South Farm before. We went to a few open days and wedding fairs, but we basically knew we’d pick South Farm by the time we drove in!

Tell us some detail about your special day?
We had a private first look before we signed the Register with our parents as witnesses. We then had a full ceremony with everyone present. It was very light-hearted, funny, and quite interactive!

Instead of a seating chart/table plan for the wedding breakfast, we handed out ‘theatre tickets’ to each guest with their table and seat number, all inspired by different seating areas in a theatre. It was our little nod to how we met. We also included personalised Spotify codes on each ticket that linked to a musical theatre song we’d chosen for that specific person.

In the evening, alongside a six-piece showband, we also had a glitter artist painting people’s faces and generally brightening everyone up!

How did you feel on the day?
It sounds cliché, but we genuinely loved every second! We had so much fun talking to everyone, dancing with everyone, and watching everyone enjoy themselves!

What was your most memorable moment from your wedding?
The ceremony! It was exactly as we wanted it to be and it was a real ‘wow this is happening’ moment for both of us!

How did you choose your ceremony & first dance music?
Our first dance was easy! Steff played that song to me right before she first told me she loved me! As for our ceremony music, a bit of Queen felt fitting for an entrance, and we genuinely were best friends before we started dating! As for the exit music, that’s a secret between us!!

How many Bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to be your Bridesmaids?
We had four in each of our bridal parties, including one Bridesman for me, plus two gorgeous little flower girls!

We gave each of our bridal party a card asking them to be part of our bridal party, and we gave them gifts the night before the wedding, including matching pjs!

How many speeches did you have and do you have any advice for anyone giving a speech?
We had three speeches – both Dad’s and we gave a joint one, plus, one surprise speech/song!

Our advice would be, there’s nothing wrong with short and sweet! Light-hearted and meaningful is better than rambling on!

What did you wear?
I wore a plain satin dress with removable puff sleeves. Steff wore a custom made jumpsuit complete with sheer over skirt, cape and coloured embroidery!! (think Elsa in Frozen Two, but make it bridal – that was the brief she gave her designer!)

Is there anything you would have done differently?
No!! Unless someone develops a way to control the wind speed! We’d also have loved photos with the pigs, but that was out of everyone’s control.

What are your top tips for other couples?
Do it your way! It’s your wedding at the end of the day and you want to look back on it and feel proud that it was exactly what you wanted. Traditions don’t all have to be followed. If it’s not for you, get it gone!

Stick together where possible. So many people want to talk to you all the time, it’s so easy to get separated and not see each other for hours! A sweetheart table for the wedding breakfast was one of our best decisions. We got up between every course and made our way round the room talking to everyone, but we still sat and ate just the two of us, which was so lovely.

Pack a spare pair of shoes! You never know what key moment they might break just before!!!

Where did you go on honeymoon?
We did a mini-moon to Zakynthos in Greece for five days straight after the wedding. As for a proper honeymoon, Australia or Canada are both on the cards, we just can’t decide!
