Sophie & Josh’s Romantic Garden Wedding, South Farm Cambridgeshire

September 28, 2026
Bride and groom share a moment on sweeping driveway with twinkling fairy lights at countryside wedding venue

Our countryside farm wedding venue provided the perfect backdrop for Sophie and Josh’s sun-filled summer wedding. Sophie – inspired by her family’s love of France – chose a pink colour scheme with stunning touches of the French countryside using beautiful sunflowers and wedding signage with a French theme. On the day their garden ceremony in the Summer House made them feel like they were the only people in the world. After saying their I-Dos’s they loved catching up with their guests for drinks and canapes in our beautiful gardens. Read all about their amazing July wedding day here…

Date of your wedding: 30th July 2025

Time of your ceremony: 2pm

Location of your ceremony:  The Summer House

We’d love to hear how your first met!

Josh and I both met when we worked at Dunelm back in 2014 and our first date was going to the cinema.

Which areas of South Farm did you use for your big day?

We got married in the Summer House, used the Old Dairy for our guest book and memorial ladder and the Tudor Barn for dinner and photo booth. Finally we used the Horse Barn for our evening dancing.

Which was your favourite spot for wedding photos?

Everywhere!!!

Tell us about any special colour schemes and you had for your wedding day?

We had a pink colour scheme and we had added a touch of France with our signage and ceremony aisle  decorated with sunflowers. France means a lot to Sophie’s family and we thought South Farms main house looked very French – so the sunflowers were an added touch!

How did you first hear about South Farm?

I saw photos of someone else’s wedding at South Farm and went investigating the venue myself as I loved what I saw.

Tell us some detail about your special day?

Being in The Summer House for the ceremony and in our own bubble was beautiful.

Socialising with our guests in the gardens was also so beautiful, being with people we loved in a beautiful environment .

The food was amazing! Everything about wedding breakfast was lovely.

Getting ready with my bridesmaids in such a spacious area was amazing and helped with the flow of everything.

How did you feel on the day?

Every emotion possible but I was put at ease with the help of staff.

What was your most memorable moment from your wedding?

The entrance to the wedding breakfast and our first dance.

How did you choose your ceremony / first dance music?

With great difficulty! We didn’t have a ‘song’ so we found one that had a beautiful meaning and was more ‘our style’

How many bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to be your bridesmaids?

I had five bridesmaids and I asked with proposal boxes.

How did you pick your best men and ushers?

We had seven groomsmen and they were all lads who are closest to the groom. We had two ushers who were Josh’s nephews.

How many speeches did you have and do you have any advice for anyone giving a speech?

We had four speeches, and all of the groomsmen had a little something to say.  I gave one as the Bride and I would highly recommended doing this – it was totally out of my comfort zone but it was was nice to take a moment to personally thank everyone and my family for our own unique family circumstances.

What did you wear?

I wore a fit and flare dress with minimal details but a lot of lace.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

The flower girls to wear black!

What are your top tips for other couples?

Don’t drink too much and enjoy the day, take in every moment and if you can’t afford a videographer make sure people are taking videos!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We went to the Maldives and then took our daughter to Disneyland, Paris after we got back.

South Farm FAQs

Do you have dedicated space for the wedding party to get ready at South Farm?
Yes – we now have two options! Sophie and her wedding party got ready in our Coach House Suite which is provided complimentary for all our couples from the morning of the wedding and for the wedding night itself. Sophie had five bridesmaids with her, and having that extra room made a huge difference to her on the day – allowing everyone to relax and enjoy the morning together. We now also have The Apple Shed – our new wedding morning prep space –  available by choice for couples from 8am on their big day. With designated make up and hair chairs and a lovely kitchen and it’s own garden it’s a perfect space to relax and enjoy your pre-wedding prep with your loved ones.

Can couples use all the different barns and outdoor spaces at South Farm?
Yes! The great thing about our barn wedding venue is that you can enjoy all our spaces indoors and out on an exclusive use basis. We have a choice of five ceremony spaces and throughout the day guests will use different parts of South Farm for drinks, dinner, coffee and the evening party. Sophie and Josh held their ceremony outside at the Summer House, used the Old Dairy for their guest book and coffee, hosted dinner and a photo booth in the Tudor Barn, and finally the Horse Barn for the evening dancing.

Can we style the venue with our own theme and colour schemes?
Yes – our venue offers a beautiful blank canvas, and we love seeing couples add their own finishing touches to suit their theme and style. Whether you picture colourful bunting, beautiful blooms, or stunning ceiling lanterns, the choice is entirely yours. For their big day, Sophie and Josh nodded to a French-inspired theme with bright sunflowers adorning the aisle and a soft pink colour palette, proving just how easy it is to make our Cambridge Wedding Venue your own.
