Sustainability Statement

Chimney Formal Menswear has always been aware of the need to reduce its environmental impact and strives to ensure we put into practice ways to minimise any adverse effects.

Hiring of suits: This service reduces the number of suits purchased for one event only. Multiple uses for each suit greatly reduces the impact of throw away fashion.

Purchase of suits: We aim to source our stock from British suppliers, where stock is held in this country to reduce our carbon footprint. Sourcing suits using materials made in Britain is important to us.

A large number of our suits and accessories are made from wool or other natural fibres so reducing our reliance on plastic-based products.

Packaging: Customer carrier bags are made from recycled paper and provide a strong, re-useable carrier which is eventually biodegradable and compostable at the end of its life. Any packaging from deliveries, whether plastic or cardboard, is re-used or recycled via our on site collection bins.

Our local council has a very comprehensive approach providing facilities for recycling all materials.

Social Awareness: As a small business we believe in supporting our local community whether by sponsoring a local event such as the Brainstrust 10 miler, the local cricket club new kit, sponsoring personal safety literature to help the local school children, or donating stock to a charity.

Energy Use: Low wattage lighting throughout the premises and time switches for heating ensure reduce our energy demands.

Internal Fittings: Using materials which are largely natural and available from the previous historical premises on the site not only created a great statement

of preserving our heritage but also reduced the need for unnecessary man-made materials.

Chimney Menswear is constantly striving to reduce its carbon footprint and its environmental impact and believe we must always continue to make improvements.
