Sustainability Statement – South Farm
At Kelly’s Kitchen, sustainability is so important to us and is core to how we work
every day. We’re a small, family run bakery based just 2.7 miles from South Farm,
which means wedding cakes travel only a short distance from our bakery to your
venue. Fewer miles to travel helps reduce unnecessary emissions and allows us to
focus on making your special cake.
All of our cakes are baked fresh to order, helping us minimise waste and avoid
overproduction. We carefully plan quantities and timings so that nothing is made
unnecessarily, and any surplus ingredients are used in our every day baking rather
than discarded. For example we bake cakes at lower temperatures to ensure flat
tops meaning limited off cuts which could be wasted.
We encourage our lovely couples to use fresh flowers to decorate their cakes
instead of artificial alternatives. This not only compliments your wedding and your
venue perfectly, but also reduces the use of plastics and non biodegradable
materials.
We take a considered approach to packaging too, using minimal and recyclable
materials wherever we can. We deliver your cake in our ‘cake safe’ meaning it
travels safely and we take this reusable box back with us to avoid discarding a
cardboard box.
Kelly’s Kitchen offers a personal service to couples. Those booking a mid-week package can enjoy a selection of cake taster pots to taste, collected from their cake shop in Royston or bakery in Bassingbourn. We also conduct a Zoom consultation with the couple, where Kelly sketches out designs to choose from and refine.
Cakes are baked using high quality, local ingredients and flavours include; Chocolate and home-made Salted Caramel, Victoria Sponge with Raspberry or Strawberry Bonne Maman conserve, Lemon with home-made Lemon Curd, Biscoff with crushed Biscoff biscuit pieces and many, many more.
For couples booking a South Farm Wedding Package, Kelly’s Kitchen offers a 10% discount with a minimum spend of £250. Please enquire via their website.
Please note: couple’s need to let us know at the point of first enquiry if they are booked on the South Farm Package. Designs available on this package are limited to certain designs that are available mid week due to capacity.
