Everything we doSustainability at our Heart
At South Farm, we are dedicated to serving both the wedding sector and our community in a sustainable manner. We are committed to continually reducing our carbon footprint and introducing new environmentally friendly initiatives whenever possible. Here are some of our key sustainability initiatives.

Our chickens supply all our eggs and our smallholding provides around 70% of our fruit and veg – all grown using organic principles.

We reduce plastics by using biodegradable straws, refillable toiletries bottles in guest rooms and glass for drinking water.

Our green energy initiatives include low energy appliances and lighting, EV chargers, and our own solar array.

We have planted over 1000 indigenous trees, heritage orchards and kilometres of new hedgerow.

We offer fully plant-based, vegetarian and gluten-free menus and as well as organic wine options.

Water from our onsite borehole is used to irrigate our crops and flush our toilets.
Now and the futureSouth Farm’s Sustainable Mission and Goals
Our labour of love over the last fifty years, has transformed South Farm from a barren site with just two trees into a stunning eco-friendly wedding venue, featuring Grade II listed barns, a country farmhouse, thriving meadows, gardens, and an organic smallholding. Our goal is to create magical, sustainable weddings that celebrate love while protecting the environment. Looking to the future in our Cambridgeshire outdoor wedding we will continue to expand our eco-initiatives — adding solar energy, enhancing our green principles and supporting biodiversity.

At South Farm we strive to serve the wedding sector and our community in a sustainable way. We are determined do the best we possibly can in reducing our carbon footprint. Alongside our current sustainable measures, we are keen to continue to introduce new environmentally friendly initiatives whenever we can.
We have recently installed EV chargers to encourage travel to and from our sustainable wedding venue that has a lower impact on the environment. We are truly a field to fork venue growing 70% of our own fruit and vegetables on-site using organic principles – meaning zero food miles – not to mention the tastiest food! We continue to invest in improved eco growing techniques and technologies, such as new irrigation systems – using water from our bore hole – and netting for organic pest control, to allow us to grow more, and to grow greener.
All our sustainable efforts are possible because of our amazing team! We are proud to offer flexible working for local people who bring a wide range of skills to our friendly, happy team!
Field to Fork

Working together, our chefs and growers plan the planting & harvesting across our 10 acre smallholding. Our talented chefs create sesaonal menus from the produce grown here at South Farm.
Our Animals
Our rare breed animals live in harmony in the barnyard & paddocks at our sustainable wedding venue. Our rare breed chickens rub shoulders with pigs & runner ducks in the barnyard while our sheep & lambs graze in the paddock. Our chickens & bantams produce rich tasty eggs for the kitchen and we keep runner ducks with the poultry to protect them from local foxes.
Homegrown with Love
Our farming uses organic principles & harnesses the power of nature to help us grow a diverse range of crops with no need for chemical fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides. Our orchard provides an abundance of fruit and our free-range chickens give us all our eggs. Over-winter storage for crops such as squash, onions & garlic mean these can be used in our menus all year round.
Sustainable Sourcing
We source responsibily from local suppliers and endeavour to buy organic, free-trade & Rainforest Alliance certified products wherever we can. We only externally source what we really have to, preferring to use our home-grown produce wherever we can.
Diversity
We are proud to offer fully plant-based, vegetarian & gluten-free menus and a wide range of ethnic menus at our sustainable wedding venue so prepare yourself for a truly delicious feast whatever your dietary needs may be! We also have a camping area so guests can bring a tent, campervan or caravan if they wish to stay the night at a wedding – you just need to check with your hosts first!
