Amanda and David choose a May wedding and what an amazing day it was! The sun shone, their guests had the best time and the stunning blue and floral theme they chose perfectly complimented the colours of our farmhouse. We loved catching up with them to hear how they planned their day and how they both felt on the big day itself…
Date of your wedding: 14/05/2023
Time of your ceremony: 2PM
Location of your ceremony: Summer House
We’d love to hear how and when you first met!
We used to work together 12 years ago. Honestly, we didn’t have an instant connection, Dave tried to win me over for years! He used to do sweet little things like change my computer background to cute animals everyday while I was at lunch! I finally agreed to go on our first date to the cinema but things never went any further, until about a year later when we finally gave it a go….We’ve been together nearly 10 years now and have an amazing little boy!
Which parts of the venue did you use for your big day?
We were lucky enough to get married outside in the Summer House and it was amazing! We then had our drinks reception in the garden and used the Horse Barn for the evening dancing.
Which was your favourite spot for wedding photos?
In the garden, on the bridge over the pond.
Tell us about any special colour schemes and how you styled your big day?
Our colour scheme was light blue. The bridesmaid dresses and the groomsmen’s ties were all sky blue which went perfectly with South Farms iconic colours.
We had a floral theme for decorations such as our table plans and signs. Each table was named after a different flower and the centerpieces were that corresponding flower.
How did you first hear about South Farm and what made you choose our venue for your wedding day?
We found South Farm on ‘Bridebook’ so decided to go for a visit and fell in love with the place.
Tell us some detail about your special day?
We got married in the garden, the sun was shining, we were surrounded by everyone we loved and couldn’t stop smiling. We had a ‘bubble exit’ down the aisle and it was amazing and made for some great photos! Feeding the pigs also made it even more memorable – even if they did try to eat my dress! Multiple people said it was one of the best weddings they’d been to and the food was amazing!
How did you feel on the day?
Calmer than expected and excited! I think we both never thought this day would happen so when it finally came round it didn’t feel real!
What was your most memorable moment from your wedding?
Dave – Waiting for Amanda at the end of the aisle
Amanda – Walking down the aisle and seeing Dave & Archie at the end. I’ll never forget seeing Dave crying!
How did you choose your ceremony / first dance music?
First dance – We heard a version of our song and then we decided to pick the original as the words related to us…Shania Twain – You’re still the one
Ceremony – We picked songs that meant something to us.
How many bridesmaids did you have and how did you ask them to be your bridesmaids?
We had two Bridesmaids – Amanda’s sisters. I gave them a box with a card and puzzle asking them to be my bridesmaid along with a bridemaid mug, notebook & pen.
We also had one Flower girl, our niece. I gave her a card and personalised elephant cuddly toy. We also had our son as our Page boy – I gave him a card and personalised elephant cuddly toy. He also got a pocket watch as a keepsake on the day.
How did you pick your best men and ushers?
They were Dave’s closest friends.
How many speeches did you have and do you have any advice for anyone giving a speech?
We had three speeches – Groom, Father of the Bride & Best Man
Don’t stress too much about it, do the speeches before you eat so you can relax after and enjoy your meal. Read through it once or twice just to familiarise yourself with it.
What did you wear?
Amanda – I wore an a-line off the shoulder dress with sparkly lace flowers
Dave – wore a royal blue 3 piece suit with tails, a beige waistcoat and a sky blue tie
Is there anything you would have done differently?
We would have planned where to have our photos a bit more because there were some I forgot about.
What are your top tips for other couples?
Enjoy every second of it because it goes so quickly.
Where did you go/where do you plan to go on honeymoon?
We went away for the weekend near Bicester just the two of us and then we go to Mallorca in September on a family holiday which is kind of like a honeymoon.
