There is so much going on in the farm and gardens during the winter months and of course we were excited to host some beautiful January weddings! We thought we would share a little update from our countryside wedding venue along with some photos from the last few weeks!
January brought us beautiful winter days full of blue skies and sunshine. The gardens looked stunning with a pretty covering of frost and we were treated to some amazing winter sunsets!
Even in the colder months our Garden team work hard to ensure there is stunning colour in the gardens and it was lovely to see lots of little green shoots from the early bulbs and some pretty daffodils too!
Our lovely farm animals are happy, whatever the weather and the sheep and pigs enjoyed posing for frosty winter photos!
In the quiet Winter months we take time to refurbish our indoor spaces and redecorate our guest accommodation. This Winter we undertook some larger improvement projects too. We have re-layed the garden terrace and created a new garden bed. The resized terrace will allow for easier guest movement to the outside bar and round to the Old Dairy and mirrors the work that we did on the Sunset Terrace last Winter.
We have redecorated our guest bedrooms which all are now freshly painted. We have also completely restyled the Coach House Suite bathroom to make it even more beautiful for our wedding couples. Our Romany Wagons were also taken inside to the workshop and hand-painted and are now looking smarter than ever.
Another winter project has been to increase the light at the ceremony end of the Old Dairy by adding windows into the ceiling and wall next to where the ceremony takes place which match the existing windows at the other end of the Dairy. This allows even more natural light to flow into the ceremony space to enhance our couples wedding ceremony and photographs!
Finally we have reconfigured our catering kitchen to make the space a little larger which means the kitchen team have a larger and improved space to prepare your delicious wedding menus!
We are so proud of our homegrown food which is used extensively in our wedding menus. Our team of chefs have created a huge range of stunning, seasonal wedding menus perfect for your day. We have our own small-holding where we grow over 200 varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs and over the winter we use our poly-tunnels to grown vegetables such as the cauliflower and pak choi pictured below. Delicious!
Towards the end of January we were back in full swing, with all the improvements complete – we loved hosting some stunning January weddings! Winter barn weddings are so special. Our roaring fire in the entrance hall is great welcome and all our spaces are warm, cosy and decorated with twinkling lights making a beautiful backdrop for your perfect wedding day! Winter weddings are amazing for photos too with stunning skies and sunsets. There are so many beautiful spaces at South Farm, both indoor and out for your wedding celebrations and special photos.
Last but not least! On 25th January ten members of our team travelled to the National Final of The Wedding Industry Awards 2023 at London’s Underglobe. We were thrilled to be awarded the top accolade of Best Barn Wedding Venue on the night – our team are over the moon to be recognised in this way. It really means the world to us to host your beautiful weddings and we can’t wait for all that 2023 will bring!
